That’s the question the ESC Lab set out to answer, with funding from the Port of Seattle and in partnership with the UW Mobility Innovation Center (MIC). Led by Prof. Chris Lee (PI), PhD student researcher Abdul-Razak Alidu conducted site analysis, charger evaluation, and developed EVCICE—an interactive Excel-based cost and energy demand estimation tool purpose-built for EV charging infrastructure planning. The result: a deployment-ready blueprint for DC fast charging at Pier 66, supporting the Port’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
